The project proposal encompasses the financing of the construction of two grain storage facilities with capacities of 100,000t and 40,000t in the Southern Banat and Mačva regions, maintenance of the newly constructed storage system, as well as the provision of grain storage services through a public-private partnership (PPP) agreement between the Republic Directorate for Commodity Reserves of the Republic of Serbia and a private partner.
The importance of this project is reflected in the fact that owning its own grain storage facilities enables the Republic of Serbia to have complete control over grain stocks, allowing the government to efficiently manage resources and ensure the fulfillment of basic food needs in case of any crisis situations.
The implementation of the project will lead to a reduction in long-term costs, maintenance of quality and safety, and support for local farmers by purchasing surplus grain and ensuring stable prices.
This project is of exceptional strategic importance for the country as it ensures long-term food security and economic stability, while the engagement of private capital frees up capital for the Republic of Serbia for other, more urgent needs where private capital or financial institution capital cannot be mobilized.
