The project in progress includes the financing, design, construction and maintenance of the heating plant in Bor, through the conclusion of a PPP contract between the city of Bor and a private partner. The basis of this project is the replacement of environmentally unacceptable fossil fuel, coal, with a renewable and carbon-neutral source, wood biomass, in combination with natural gas. One of the most important goals of the project conceived in this way is the reduction of emissions of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, oil monoxide, hydrocarbons, powdery substances and total organic carbon. Bor is the city with the largest percentage of households connected to the district heating system in Serbia, so the impact of this project on society and the environment is much greater than in other similar systems.
